Philanthropy

Our international philanthropy is Arthritis. Most people think of Arthritis as a disease for the elderly, but Juvenile Arthritis effects more than 300,000 children and adolescents in the United States. This debilitating disease can make simple tasks excruciatingly painful and difficult.

During the school year we host a few events to raise money and awareness for arthritis. Family weekend we always host an event, recently it's been Pie-a-Pi. This is where people pay to make whip cream pies and throw them at us. We've also done pumpkin palooza where people pay to carve pumpkins.

In the spring we do a couple of events, we've done Sisters for Soldiers, which required getting supplies and sending them to soldiers. As well as JAMS which is a Juvenial Arthritis March hosted at the Mall of America every year. We also sponsor our own 5k run near campus to raise money for arthritis.

Although Arthritis is our international philanthropy it's not the only thing we focus on. Kappa Sigma enjoys reaching out to the community to help in anyway possible. Whether it's donating clothes, making blankets for families in need, or helping build homes for the homeless.

Although we do a lot of community service as a group we also encourage individual philanthropy hours for you to accomplish on your own time. This can be anything from Feed my Starving Children to tutoring people for classes.
